Djembe Studio
About
Djembe Studio is the online djembe school of Kiko Bento: lessons, practice loops and solo training for players of every level. Learn the traditional rhythms of the Mande world - Fanga, Konkoba, Dununba, Yankadi, Sewa, Tiriba, Guinea Fare, Soli, Djole, Moribayassa, Soboninkun, Djansa - together with their dunun parts, then build your own solo language with call and response, solo chains and phrases from masters like Mamady Keita, Bolokada Conde and Djeli Sory.
Four pillars shape every lesson: Foundation (hand technique and sound), Groove (traditional rhythms and timing), Solo Language (improvisation) and Musicality. More than 1,000 members learn with the step-by-step courses, and the YouTube channel has over 240 free videos.
Go deeper with the KIKO Residency, a one-on-one week of 25 hours of private drumming in rural Portugal near Pombal (1,250 EUR), earn a Djembe Studio certificate (Beginner 100 EUR, Intermediate 200 EUR, Advanced 300 EUR), or play a hand-picked Malian djembe from the Djembe Studio shop.
Membership: Monthly $19, Yearly $99 or Lifetime $499 (USD), with a 7-day free trial on monthly and yearly.
